Iowa DNR says some animal populations are lower this year

BOONE, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reporting lower populations of pheasant, dove, rabbit, and partridge this year compared to last.

Upland Wildlife Biologist with the Iowa DNR Todd Bogenschutz told KXCV/KRNW that a good hunting season combined with other factors led to the population drop.

Bogenschutz says a relatively mild winter this year should result in a bump in quail numbers. More information is available at iowadnr.gov.
